Maguma (Madrid, 1977) studied architecture in Madrid, Lisbon and Mexico City. He started working as a professional illustrator at El País, where he collaborated regularly for approximately three years. Since then, he has worked together with a large number of magazines and newspapers, designed posters, published picture books and illustrated books, made murals, taught workshops and conferences.
His books have been published in several countries and in different languages by publishers such as Penguin Random House, Fondo de Cultura Económica, Editorial Limonero, A Buen Paso, Editorial Amanuta, Tara Books and Libros del Zorro Rojo, among others.
He has taught in Si Picture Books (Seoul), Facultad de Bellas Artes de Granada, Escuela Minúscula (Madrid) and frequently runs workshops and lectures around the world.
His work has been recognized and awarded several times, including an «Honorable Mention at the Bolognaragazzi Award 2025» for Raices del Bosque, «the Ibero-America Ilustra Award 2023» and «the Grand Prix at Nami Concours 2023», among others.
He has participated in exhibitions in Seoul, Sarmede (Italy), Bologna, Tokyo, New York, Madrid, Valencia and Guadalajara (Mexico).
